Back into training more easily with mental training

Many athletes trained less because of the Corona pandemic, or stopped training completely for a while, since gyms were closed for several weeks. But other reasons too, like an injury, a pregnancy, a motivation slump or something else getting in the way, can trigger a training break.

Whatever the reason, every athlete will take a break at some point. Depending on how long the break lasted, though, getting back into it can be quite hard.

Have you also taken a longer training break and don't know where to find the motivation to build up a sporting routine again, to get rid of the kilos you gained and rebuild the muscle mass you worked so hard for, but lost?

In this article you'll learn how, even after a longer training break, mental training can get you back to your old form in the shortest possible time.

The length of your break determines how easy your comeback will be

The longer your break, the longer it takes to get back into training and build up a sporting routine again.

If your break only lasted 2 weeks and you kept eating healthily throughout, getting back into training will be much easier than if the break lasted several weeks to months and a lot of muscle mass was lost. If you've taken time off for several weeks or months, it's clear that you can't simply pick up exactly where you left off.

With mental strength you'll reach your fitness goals

After around two weeks, unused muscle mass starts to break down. It's important to give your body the time it needs to get used to training again. After all, you want to keep your injury risk low and achieve lasting results.

That's why it's important that you accept that you've moved away from your old form during your training break, and that you should ease back into it gently. What will get you far is mental strength, not your pride.

But you don't need to worry, nothing is lost! Your muscles remember previous performance, so you don't have to start from zero again. All the hard work and sweat before the break weren't for nothing. If you've built muscle mass before, you'll get back to your old training level more easily after a longer break than a complete beginner would.

Don't let mental barriers drain your motivation!

Getting back into training is often accompanied by inner barriers. It's not just the body that changes, the mindset often shifts too. Where before the break there was drive and motivation, mental focus is now missing. Thoughts about how your fitness goal of losing weight or building muscle now feels far away act like barriers and drain your motivation.

Reach your goal faster with the right mindset

As a coach, I can help you overcome your inner barriers. I also help you get fit again and reach your goals, and in less time than if you tackled the comeback alone. Going it alone often doesn't lead you down the most efficient path, which the huge amount of misinformation you can find online doesn't help either.

I don't just create a training and nutrition plan individually tailored to your needs, goals and physical condition, I also support you with mental training. With the right mindset, you can leave your burdens behind, set new goals, and approach your comeback with fresh energy.

Through my experience as an NLP practitioner, I know how to build you up mentally and motivate you. In a personal training session, which can take place online as well as outdoors or in the gym, I'll show you how to reach your fitness goal faster using the reframing method from neuro-linguistic programming.

The American bestselling author Anthony Robbins is also an NLP trainer and shows successfully how NLP can enrich every area of life. With the help of this technique, you'll be able to direct your energy and thoughts in the right direction. Because it's often our thought patterns that stop us from reaching our goals.

I'll show you how to shift your focus away from your inner barriers and recognise the positive in the challenge of getting back into training. I'm happy to introduce you to the art of directing perception and coach you, so you can bring a new quality to other situations and experiences in your life too, and show you how to turn negative thoughts into positive ones.
