Working at a desk for hours and being fit and healthy at the same time - does that go together? Do you often also have back pain and feel tense from all the sitting in the office?
After an exhausting day at the desk and the drive home in the car, you simply lack the motivation to go to the gym or for a run? Unplanned overtime throws a spanner in the works?
Lack of physical activity is widespread. It's a proven fact that we get sick from lots of sitting and little movement. I'll now show you how to make your office day healthier, counteract the health damage from constant sitting with corporate fitness and reduce stress at work.
Deliberately build more movement into your working day with corporate fitness
The current trend of digitalisation shows: more and more people work at a desk. Our health suffers greatly from this. If you sit a lot at work, you're exposed to a higher risk of developing a cardiovascular disease, muscle loss and herniated discs than people who move a lot during work.
The anatomy of our body simply isn't made for long sitting. We humans need movement. If you regularly (ideally daily) build more movement into your day, it has great benefits for your body and your health. This works, for example, like this:
- Get the first energy kick for your day by cycling to the office, if your workplace isn't too far away
- Take the stairs instead of the lift
- Go for a walk after lunch during your lunch break
- Simply drink your coffee standing up for once

It's important that during working hours you keep detaching yourself from the desk to stand up and move, and thereby release tension in muscle groups like the neck, shoulders and arms.
Fitness at the company is quite simple: keep getting up to drink something or to talk to the colleague from the other department instead of calling them. It's of course better if you use your lunch break to fit in a small workout and do a few exercises for your shoulders, your neck and your legs!
Corporate fitness during the lunch break
Lunchtime is excellent for a workout, because you're normally always at work at that time. So nothing can get in the way!
In personal training in Zurich, I'm happy to show you exercises that you can do on your office chair and keep building into your working day. I'm also happy to visit your company during the lunch break or right after work and show you and your colleagues in the office corporate-fitness exercises with which you can keep yourselves not only physically but also mentally fit in your working day.
Together we release tension and back pain with strength and stretching exercises
The sitting position leads to muscular imbalances, which often result in poor posture that promotes pain in the back and neck. Tension can lead to headaches, and if the tension becomes chronic, migraines or damage to your discs can develop from it.
In personal training Zurich, I show you strength and stretching exercises that strengthen your posture and core and help you release tension and back pain that are promoted by long sitting.
But it's not just your back you should pay special attention to. Your hip needs it too. Because from all the sitting, the hip flexor can shorten, which reduces the muscle's function. Since it's connected to the fascia, tension in the diaphragm or even in the jaw can be the result.
If you have long-lasting pain, I of course recommend that you see a doctor.
Before training at the office, eat only something light
Before corporate fitness, you should eat only something light. I recommend eating fresh fruit, a yoghurt or a small open sandwich and, of course, drinking plenty of water. Perhaps you'll find an opportunity to snack on a little something already during work, so that you don't tackle your midday workout on a full stomach.
If you can't eat during work, you also shouldn't train on an empty stomach. Reach for something easily digestible right before training and eat only a small portion that doesn't sit too heavily in the stomach, such as a banana, a smoothie or an energy bar with a high protein content and healthy ingredients.

Relieve stress and recharge with exercise at the office
Fitness training at the office not only motivates enormously and does the body good. Training in a group also strengthens your team, creates whole new energy and helps you wind down after an exhausting working day, forget the stress and relax.
Corporate fitness additionally ensures better concentration at the workplace. Because movement increases blood flow to the brain, allowing it to take up more oxygen.
